It can be vacuumed. It would NOT be good with dogs or cats, as their nails will catch on the strands.

My rug is in a bedroom. I vacuum it with no problem. My dog lays on it and all is fine. The rug is not in a high traffic area, so I'm not sure about how it would hold up to traffic. I love the way this rug looks. So colorful and textured. Feels nice underfoot.
